Teams: Why You Should Have One, and How They Can Help Your Campaign!

Why is a team important?

Crowdfunding campaigns run by a team raise over three times as much as campaigns run by individuals. Regardless of the size of your idea, working with a team allows you to expand your network, divide tasks, focus on your strengths, and build the strongest campaign possible.

Who should be on my team?

Your teammates can include friends, family members, and colleagues—anyone you trust to bring your vision to life. Once you’ve established your teammates, you can invite them to join as team members on your campaign page.

In addition to your core team, consider who can help with key assets like your pitch video, product shots, and infographics. You can DIY these elements or outsource to professionals like photographers and designers to create high-quality visuals.

How can I invite people to my team?

Linno Fund makes it simple to invite team members! Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Linno Fund account and open your Campaign Editor.
  2. Click the "Team" tab and scroll to the "Campaign Team" section.
  3. Enter the email addresses of your desired team members in the "New Team Member Email" field.
  4. Decide if you want to grant full editing rights to these members. If granted, they will have access to your Campaign Dashboard and the full Campaign Editor, including financial details. Non-editors won’t have access to sections like Comments, Updates, or the Dashboard. Assign full editing rights carefully!
  5. Click "Send Invitation" to email the invite.

Important Notes:

  • Team members must have Linno Fund accounts before accepting invitations.
  • You can only send up to 10 invitations every 24 hours.

Once your invite is accepted, the new team member will appear on your campaign page as part of the team.

What should my team do?

Your team will help divide and conquer the work of preparing and running your campaign! Strategically delegate tasks to make the most of everyone’s strengths.

Examples of team roles:

  • Content Creation: Have a skilled writer craft your campaign story and emails. Pair them with a visual content creator for stunning pictures and infographics.
  • Marketing: Assign members to develop your marketing plan, build your email list, and manage social media outreach.
  • Community Engagement: Have someone respond to comments, direct messages, and create/update an FAQ section.
  • Promotion: Encourage team members to personally reach out to their networks via email and social media. Provide them with templates for ease and encourage personalization.

Don’t forget unique roles like engineers, developers, and volunteers who may have vital contributions to your campaign.

How should I showcase my team on the campaign?

Highlighting your team builds trust and shows transparency. Feature them in your pitch video and dedicate a section in your campaign story.

  • Video: Include the campaign owner and other team members to create a personal connection with backers. Speak directly to your audience to build trust.
  • Story: List your team members with photos and bios. Share their relevant experience and make it personal.
    • For creative campaigns, consider artistic renderings instead of traditional photos.
    • Add social media handles (like Twitter) to demonstrate openness and accessibility.

Inspiration from great campaigns

Take inspiration from campaigns like JIBO and Canary, which successfully featured their teams in both videos and story sections. These examples demonstrate how showing the people behind the project can foster trust, increase engagement, and enhance credibility.
